Inside this book

The words of each page, to read along or read aloud.

  1. Page 1

The crate split open with a crack like snapping bone, and the smugglers fled. Something speckled rolled across the salt-cracked dock and stopped against Tomas's boot.

It was an egg, as big as a loaf of bread. It hummed softly, like a kettle about to sing, and as the tide crept in, it began to glow a cold, clear blue.

  2. Page 2

That night the harbour boiled. A sea serpent rose from the black water, her neck taller than the lighthouse, and fishing boats splintered beneath her as she searched and searched.
